Transform your presentations with Beyond Bullet Points 101 – This course will take you step-by-step through the process of creating an example presentation beyond bullet points — and help you to build your own personal presentation along the way.

Our foundation class is World Class Speaking: The Basics. In this class you’ll learn…

–  Where your fear comes from and ways to deal with it physically and mentally

– The 3 types of people in your audience and who you should focus on

– What are the qualities of a World Class Speaker? Which of the qualities can you start working on now?

–  How to prepare for a presentation. How much time should you spend rehearsing? Should you memorize your speech word for word?

–  How to use note cards to help you when you present

–  How to present when you’re using slides

–  2 best ways to stand and what to do with your arms

–  How to use eye contact

– 3 sensible ways to incorporate movement in to your speech

– What’s the right way to include gestures

–  3 powerful ways to open and close a presentation

– When should stories be used in a presentation

–  How to deal with questions

–  Recommended resources to learn more

All this will be covered in this beginner’s level public speaking workshop. You will learn a lot!

This workshop will include opportunities for participants to stand up and try out what’s being presented. However, it will not be required of everyone to participate. So, if you’re really a nervous beginner, don’t worry, we won’t put you on the spot!

After attending this workshop you’re not going to undergo a total transformation. However, you should feel better about being able to speak now that you are armed with knowledge and techniques to do a better job when you take the floor. That’s how you start to improve by working on your mental state as well as gain basic skills. From that point your improvement will accelerate because you won’t hold yourself back.

The accompaniment to World Class Speaking: The Basics is World Class Speaking: Implementation of The Basics. This class is all about making a presentation based on what you learned in The Basics. Thus, you must take the Basics class before you can take this class.

You’ll prepare and present a 5 – 7 minute presentation, which must incorporate elements such as a strong opening, good eye contact, good speaking stance, meaningful gestures, appropriate movement, stories, and a strong close. You’ll be stopped several times during your presentation to be coached live on things to improve.

After some live coaching, you’ll give it all the way through. Your presentation will be videotaped. When you’re done with your presentation you’ll get an oral evaluation, then when you get the video, a written follow-up evaluation.

You’ll not only benefit from getting evaluated during and after the class with the follow-up video, but you’ll also see others get coached, which will help you, too. This class can be repeated as many times as you like. It’s a 2.5 hour class and only 6 people can take it at a time.

World Class Speaking: Structured Speaking is all about how to prepare presentations with a cohesive structure. Have you ever seen someone present and ramble all over the place? Painful, right? Let’s make sure that’s not you. We’ll show you how to put great presentations together, but also how to present them in a way that keeps people riveted to you during the whole presentation.

In this class you will learn:

– The Then, Now, How formula for quick and easy speeches

– The World Class formula for creating speeches that keep people on the edge of their seats

– How many main points should go in a speech

– How speakers get off track and how to avoid it

– The Outline Method for creating great PowerPoint presentations

– How to rehearse a long presentation

– Why your audience craves processes and how to give it to them

– How to ensure your speech gets remembered

And more. This class is for you if you’ve never really understood how to put great presentations together beyond an intro, point 1, point 2, point 3, close. You’ll be so much more compelling as a speaker after you attend this class and apply the formulas.

World Class Speaking: Telling Great Stories is the class that anyone who’s serious about speaking needs. Why? Because stories are the stuff that great presentations are made of. I mean really, do you remember the facts and charts in presentations weeks later? Of course you don’t. But, you do remember the good stories. And guess what you do with the great stories? You retell them.

Here’s the straight scoop on telling great stories…it’s a process with a  formula. In this class you’ll learn the full and abbreviated formulas you can use again and again to make your average stories awesome.

Where do stories apply? Everywhere. Team meetings. Conference seminars. Interviews. Company presentations. We actually don’t know of a place where they don’t. Take this class and start drawing your audience in to your talks and keep them engaged.

World Class Speaking: Using PowerPoint is about how to use the world’s #1 presentation software to deliver a great speech. After taking this class no one will ever accuse you of committing ‘Death by PowerPoint’.

This class is not a how-to on using PowerPoint. It’s assumed that you already own and have a basic understanding of how to create a basic presentation.

This class is more about best practices when using PowerPoint as a tool towards creating an effective and engaging presentation.

The accompaniment to World Class Speaking: Implementation of Using PowerPoint is World Class Speaking: Implementation of Using PowerPoint (Pre-requisite: World Class Speaking: Using PowerPoint)

In this class you’ll make an 8-10 minute presentation that’s slide based. You’ll show that you understand how to structure slides for maximum effect. You won’t read your slides, won’t constantly look at the screen, won’t have too many bullets on your slides, and will have graphics that begin to tell a story that only you can finish.

In most of our Implementation classes students are videotaped, but not in this one. That’s because you must interact with your slide material in a way that won’t be easily captured in a raw video. Therefore, in this class you’ll receive a live oral evaluation after you’re done. You might be stopped during your presentation if you’re making too many mistakes. Get suited up!

World Class Speaking: Grand Slam Interviews is a class for you if you’re in the hunt for a new job. Interviewing well is a skill that can be learned. We’ll teach you how to do it about as well as can be done. We’ll cover it all from how you look, how you sit, how you make eye contact, how to respond to commonly asked questions that often trip up interviewees, and what to say when you’re asked if you have any questions. The aim is to make you the best interviewee of the lot.

The class is taught by a veteran interviewee who was almost always hired when he got a chance to interview; and a veteran interviewer who’s seen it all: the good, bad and ugly.
